How we check
Most pub listings are scraped once and left to rot. Ours are checked pub by pub — and we remove anything we can't confirm.
Every pub confirmed open. All 316 were individually checked in July 2026 against current sources — CAMRA's pub guides and surveys, official pub websites, and up-to-date directory listings.
Closed pubs removed. That check found four that had shut and several that never existed at the address listed. They're gone. We'd rather show you fewer pubs than send you to a boarded-up door.
Duplicates and phantoms weeded out. Cross-checking addresses exposed pubs listed twice under different spellings, and "pubs" whose address actually belonged to a different pub entirely.
Gaps filled. The same process turned up real pubs that were missing, like Chester's Oddfellows Arms and Wrexham's Nags Head.
What we're less sure about
Being straight with you matters more than looking perfect:
Parking. We flag pubs likely to have their own car park or dedicated spaces, but for town-centre pubs especially this can be hard to confirm. If a pub shows parking and shouldn't (or the other way round), the ⚠ button puts it right.
Map pins. Some are accurate to the street rather than the door.
